Where are the Western journalists when you need them after Israeli killed Anas, 28, and four other Palestinian journalists? Why are they not showing their solidarity? Is this the case of "Je suis Charlie" as long as he's not Palestinian? No condemnation from any Western leaders! No tweets by the Nobel Peace Prize candidate occupying the White House! No expression of outrage by U.S. State Department! They should be all ashamed of themself for their silence.
However, in fairness to American investigative journalist and the founding editor of the Intercept and Drop Site News, Jeremy Scahill, who wrote about Anas, "Tonight, Israel assassinated Gaza's bravest journalist, Anas Al-Sharif. For nearly two consecutive years, he documented the attack on his people with courage and principles. Israel placed him on its assassination list because of his voice. Shame on this world and on everyone who remained silent."
As of June 6, 2025, the number of journalists killed by the IDF in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, was 226 according to Gaza's government Media Office, which was reported by Türkiye Today. The occupation continues to murder journalists for exposing their crimes to the world.
“The order to kill Anas Al-Sharif, one of Gaza’s bravest journalists, along with his colleagues, is a desperate attempt to silence voices ahead of the 'total occupation of Gaza,'" said an official at Al Jazeera. The ugly truth is, Israel banned all Western journalists reporting from Gaza in an effort to hide the truth. Now they are after Palestinian journalists killing one after the other.
Hours after Anas' murder, Muhammad Shehada tweeting, "Israel's own fabricated document about Anas Al-Sharif incriminates them 100%. It claims he was wounded in a training explosion in early 2023 and was left incapacitated and unfit for military service with 'extremely weak hearing in the left ear, weak eyesight' and constant migraines and headaches.
In other words, Anas, per Israel itself, had zero military role during the entire period of the genocide. Yet he was murdered so openly for the crime of being a journalist."
In response to Western media complicity in the latest massacre, @zei_squirrel tweeted, "Watch closely as every Western media outlet from the BBC to the Guardian, AP, Reuters and New York Times repeats the propaganda smear laundering the murder of Anas al-Sharif and his entire crew as they know that it is false. They know the Israeli death-cult publicly smeared him as KHAMAS nearly a year ago knew where he was at every moment since then and only murdered him now to prevent his reporting on the imminent mass killing and rape they are about to commit."
Six times award-winning journalist and author Hala Jaber posted this tweet the day after Anas' murder, "As if the massacre of six journalists last night wasn’t enough, Israel’s thirst for blood continues. Today, in Gaza’s Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, Israeli forces slaughtered more than seven children & toddlers in a single strike." She added, "Look at them. Tiny bodies, some still in their pajamas, some holding each other even in death. These were children, not combatants, murdered by this genocidal entity in cold blood."
Anas Al Sharif, one of the best know journalists in Gaza, has been pleading for weeks for help and telling the world that Israel is planning to assassinate him. It accused him without any shred of evidence that he leads a Hamas cell. Just like Israel previously blamed Hamas of beheading babies and mass rape without producing any evidence. Now, after 22 months the terrorist state of Israel succeeded in murdering Anas. The IDF also alleged that it had documents providing “unequivocal proof” of his involvement with Hamas, but it failed to show the evidence to the rest of the world. Where is the beef? According to the IDF, babies are Hamas too. This is a bunch of BS. Israel just murdered 5 more journalists.
"This is my will, and my final message. If these words have reached you, then know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. First, peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of God. God knows that I gave everything I had — all my effort and strength — to be a support and a voice for my people ever since I first opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of Jabalia refugee camp.
My hope was that God would grant me enough years to return with my family and loved ones to our original hometown, occupied Asqalan (Al-Majdal). But God’s Will comes first and His Decree is final. I have lived through pain in all its details, tasted sorrow, and loss many times.
Yet, I never hesitated for a single day to convey the truth as it is — without distortion or alteration — hoping that God would bear witness to those who stayed silent, to those who accepted our killing, to those who suffocated our breaths, and to those whose hearts were unmoved by the bodies of our children and women who did nothing to stop the massacre our people have endured for more than a year and a half.
I urge you to hold fast to Palestine — the jewel of the Muslim world and the heartbeat of every free person on this earth. I urge you to stand with its people and with its wronged little children who were not given the chance to dream or to live in safety and peace, whose pure bodies were crushed by thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and missiles, tearing them apart and scattering their remains across the walls.
I urge you not to let chains silence you nor borders confine you. Be bridges towards the liberation of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and freedom shines once more on our stolen homeland.
I urge you to care for my family. I urge you to care for the apple of my eye, my beloved daughter Sham, whom I could not live long enough to see grow as I had dreamed. I urge you to care for my dear son Salah, whom I had wished to stand beside until he grew strong so that he could carry my burden and continue the mission after me.
I urge you to care for my beloved mother whose blessed prayers carried me to where I reached, whose supplications were my fortress, and whose light guided my path. I pray that God eases her heart and rewards her for me with the best of rewards.
I also urge you to care for my life partner, my beloved wife, Umm Salah (Bayan). The war kept us apart for long days and months, yet she remained true to her promise — steadfast like an olive tree that does not bend — patient and faithful, carrying the responsibility in my absence with strength and faith.
I urge you to stand by them, to be their support after God Almighty. If I die, then I die steadfast upon my principles. I testify before God that I am content with His decree, believing in meeting Him, and certain that what is with God is better and everlasting. O Allah, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my family.
Forgive me if I fell short, and pray for me to be granted mercy, for I have gone on in loyalty to my oath — never changing, never betraying. Do not forget Gaza… And do not forget me in your sincere prayers for forgiveness and acceptance. Anas Jamal Al-Sharif 06.04.2025"
This is what our beloved Anas requested to be published upon his martyrdom. This message is from one of Anas Al Sharif's friends Fadi Daoud @fjadoud tweet on August 10, 2025.
Rest in peace, Anas, Mohammed Qreigea, Ibrahim Daher, Moumin Alaywa, and Mohammed Noufal.
A sweet father to daughter chat. After Trump's proposed plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza, Anas asked Sham if she would like to move to either Qatar, Egypt, or Turkey. She adamantly said, "We are staying here. We are not going anywhere else."
