Crime Minister and war criminal Netanyahu was on the list. This shows that Time's 2024 Person of the Year award is meaningless.
Amazingly, Time selected a man for this prestigious title that does not make Americans feel proud at home and respected abroad. Man of the Year should be reserved for those whose work and contributions help positively impact the quality of life for others and enhance the image of their country. Not President-elect Trump!
Donald Trump is a fascist man who insulted Mexicans, attacked refugees, disparaged Muslims, maligned Arabs, defamed women, called a former POW a traitor, insulted Jews, humiliated Gold Star parents whose son was killed in Iraq, and yes, he even mocked a disabled reporter. No other public office holder would have gotten away with it in recent history.
Like everyone around the world, I feel that all I have read about this past year is about the innocent people who were murdered during the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza and Lebanon. The news makes me think about all the lives that were cut short and the entire families that have been wiped out. As a Palestinian who has no relatives in Gaza, I feel like they were all my relatives and friends even though we never met. Every time I read about a new massacre in Gaza and people blown up to pieces, my heart ached, and I cried in silence for their senseless murder and their loved ones left behind. For this reason, I believe that TIME’s Person of the Year should be the victims of the Gaza genocide.
I haven't seen a copy of Time in over twenty years and did not know it still existed except in people's imaginations. It looks like Trump is using Time as a mouthpiece. What is next?" Will Trump get a Nobel Peace Prize before he even takes office?
The owner of Time is Marc Benioff, an "American Zionist" and a close friend of Trump. President-elect is convicted 34 times of fraud. Even Crime Minister Netanyahu was on the shortlist, which shows that Time's Person of the Year award is meaningless.
I quickly searched for the Time's Person of The Year. Here is a short sample in no particular order:
* Donald J. Trump. Person of The Year 2016: He promised that if elected as president, he would move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and promised Israel that Jerusalem would be recognized as its eternal capital for $40 million in campaign donations, a promise that DJT has kept.
* Newt Gingrich. Person of the Year 1995: He famously dumped wife #1 for wife #2 while wife # 1 was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. As in, he went to the hospital to present her with a different paper while she was recovering from surgery. Eventually, according to Intelligence in March 2011, he dumped wife #2 for wife # 3 shortly after wife # 2 was diagnosed with MS back in 1999.
Gingrich had the stupidity to suggest in 2016 on Fox News, "We should deport all Muslims in America if they believe in Islamic Sharia."
* Mark Zuckerberg. Person of the Year 2010: Zuckerberg blocks pro-Palestinian accounts arbitrarily without providing a reason. Facebook sometimes uses the term incitement as an excuse, but FB never applies this term when Israelis or Israeli cheerleaders advocate violence or genocide against Palestinians. Case in point. Former Israel Justice Minister has a post that read, " Palestinian women should be killed and sent to hell with kisses and flowers, so that they can no longer give birth to 'little snakes.'"
Mort Klein, who is the President of the Zionist Organizations of America, responded to the nomination of Kamala Harris, whose husband is Jewish, by saying that serious Jews don't marry non-Jewish women. Surprisingly, Zuckerberg was not moved by such offensive remarks, nor were other US public officials or celebrities. There was no outrage expressed, no call for resignation, and no charges of anti-Semitism. Imagine for a moment what would have happened if either US Reps. Ilhan Omar or Rashida Tlaib said that? We will never hear the end of it.
* Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Person of the Year 2022: The Ukrainian President was picked for "proving that courage can be as contagious as fear," explained the Time for choosing him. Hey, the Times should have also considered Yahya Sinwar or Hasan Nasrallah for this distinction because both were fighting against the brutal foreign military occupation for over a year. Neither one made the Times' shortlist nor received billions of dollars in Western aid.
* Barack Obama. Killer of the Year 2008 & 2012: The president ordered many drone attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, and Somalia against hospitals, weddings, and funeral processions. Even against US citizens like Anwar Al-Awlaki and his 16-year-old son Abdulrahman, both killed in separate strikes in Yemen. He was the only US president to order the killing of US citizens without due process of law. He was arrested three times before he became president.
* Bill Clinton. Person of the Year 1992 & 1998: President Clinton was nick-named "Slick Willy." Aside from his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, the president turned the White House into a 'whore house' by allowing his major campaign contributors and his friends to spend the night in the Lincoln bedroom with their significant others.
* George W. Bush. Liar of the Year 2000: He was arrested three times before he became president. His mother nicknamed him "W" because he was a poor speller. Bush was an unindicted war criminal. He ordered the invasion of Iraq in 2003 under the pretense that Iraq had WMDs. It was a dirty war for Israel's sake that destroyed the entire country and left 1 million in Iraq and 4,000 US troops dead. Bush never apologized or was held responsible for his war crimes.
According to NBC News, 4,492: The number of U.S. service members was 4,492: The number of U.S. servicemembers killed in Iraq. 32,292: The number of U.S. servicemembers wounded in Iraq.
Approximately 200,000: The number of Iraqi civilians killed in the war. Another 500,000 Iraqi children died due to the US-imposed sanctions.
A claim that the U.S. sanctions on Iraq killed over 500,000 children under the age of five surfaced following the death of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who supported economic sanctions against Iraq. (The claim is based on the Iraq Child and Maternal Mortality Survey.)
Donald J. Trump. Man of the Year 2024: The president was offered $100 million during the campaign by Mariam Adelson (who is a US-Israeli citizen) if he let Israel annex the West Bank. So, Trump is making a generous offer to Israel again at the expense of the Palestinian people. Will he keep his promise? That remains to be seen.
That being said, Time has missed its golden opportunity to name a 6-year-old Palestinian girl from Gaza, Hind Rajab, for Person of the Year 2024.
